What's improved about your life from this time last year?

We bought a house. We now have our own place to call our own.
The girls each have their own room. We have a big yard. We LOVE our new home.

We were very upset when we were being evicted from our duplex so they could remodel the unit, but you know what. God provided. He provided a new home for us to call our own and make new memories in.

And we are in love!

Hurricane Delta

My heart is just so heavy for Louisiana. It's so hard knowing what everyone is going through back in my home town.

Hurricane Laura hit the Louisiana coast in the direct path of my home town a little over 6 weeks ago. Last week Hurricane Delta hit just 13 miles east of where Laura hit. So, it didn't make a direct hit, but still close enough to cause more damage to all those houses that already had damage from Laura.

Hurricane Delta was the 4th named storm of 2020 to hit Louisiana, as well as a record-breaking tenth storm to hit the US.

A lot of the people evacuated and still hadn't returned home after Laura hit.
About 5,600 people were still living in hotels 6 weeks after Laura because their homes were so destroyed by Laura.
About 6,000 homes still had tarps on them from Laura.

Yes, Delta was a weaker storm, but because of all the destruction from Laura, it caused even more damage to many homes.

Please pray for the south. There is so much damage and destruction and it is taking a lot longer to get things repaired with COVID. I just hurt for my home town. The people are tired. They are exhausted and they are devastated.

However, they are strong and they will get through it all!

Praying for my home state and my family and friends. 2020 has been a really hard year for everyone!

Best advice given...

When I was going through the first stages of getting a divorce with my ex-husband, I emailed my dad to fill him in on all the things going on. Actually saying the words out loud stung and I just couldn't do it yet, so I emailed him.

I wish I had kept the email because it was such a great email, but the best advice I have ever received was from him during this time in my life. He said something similar to the above quote. He said, that our divorce does not define us... what defines us is how we pick ourselves back up after the divorce. I lived those words from that day forward. I think in my life it has really helped me grow as a person. I love my dad so much and these words will say in my mind for the rest of my life!

Thanks dad for always being there for me... for always being willing to help in the hard times and the great times. You are my rock and I love you more than you can even imagine!

The kiddo is a huge fan of K-POP. She has been a fan for over the past year. It is cute. She loves them.

Lately, I have been having her with me when I go to work because of COVID. I told her when she is with me she can select the music we listen to. Most of the time it is K-Pop. She either listens to the group BTS or Stray Kids. Lately it has been more Stray Kids.

Today she asked me if I was humming along to one of the songs. I was. It's catchy, I just don't know the words to most of the songs. She says... that's awesome. And the smile on her face made my day great. It's the little things in life that make my heart happy. This is one of them. Letting her listen to her K-Pop and having a great time with her is priceless. I won't get this time back. So, I am going to enjoy ever second I can. And if that means, dancing along and singing/sometimes humming, so be it.

Stray Kids are above and BTS is below...

My Childhood

I am from Sulphur, LA.When I was a child our area code was 318.
If you had a pool you were KING of the block, otherwise you played in a sprinkler to stay cool or you waited for a big storm and played in the flooded area in your neighborhood. Eating ice cream was a treat on a hot day. You took your school clothes off as soon as you got home and put on your play clothes. We had to do our homework before being allowed outside to play.
We went to school everyday. Our phone hung on the wall in the kitchen and had a long cord, there was no private conversation or cell phones! We played Mother May I, Hopscotch, Cops and Robbers, 1,2,3 Not It, Red Light Green Light, Red Rover, Hide & Seek, Truth or Dare, Tag, Baseball, Kick Ball, Dodge Ball, and rode bikes. Girls could spend hours playing Barbies or house. Boys played football in the street, basket ball in the school yard and jumped their bikes with scrap wood ramps. There was no bottled water; we drank from the tap or the water hose (warm). Staying in the house was a punishment and the only thing we knew about "bored"--- "You better find something to do before I find it for you!"
We ate dinner at the table and We ate what mom made for dinner or we ate nothing at all. Eating out at a restaurant was a huge deal that only happened for very special occasions. Fast food was a bologna/ham or pb&j sandwich to take outside in the yard .
We watched cartoons on Saturday mornings, and rode our bikes for hours and ran around in the streets until dark.We weren't AFRAID OF ANYTHING.
School was mandatory and teachers were people who you could TRUST and respect. We watched our MOUTHS around our elders because ALL of our Aunts, Uncles, Grandpas and Grandmas AND our Parents best friends were also our PARENTS (they COULD & WOULD WHOOP Y'ALL!,) and you didn't want them telling your PARENTS if you misbehaved.
These were the good ole days. Kids today will never know how it feels to be a real kid. I loved my childhood...!!! Good Times!

Made you a better person...

What is a life experience (good or bad) that has made you a better person?

I know this sounds horrible to say, but my divorce is what I would say.

If it wasn't for my divorce, I would never have gotten to where I am now in my life. I have a great husband and a bonus daughter.

I also have a cute little kiddo that means the world to me and you know what's funny about that? She is my ex-husband and his wife's little girl. We hang out as much we can and we all have a great time together. My husband and my ex get along great. I get along great with my ex's wife. It is all great times together.

Because of our divorce, we found the best life we can have with our perfect mates.
And I am so thankful for all of us!

When did you last push the boundaries of your comfort zone?

I think the last thing I did that pushed my boundaries is my weight loss. I have had to push myself in ways I never thought I could to get to my goals in weight loss. I have so far to go and I am not even close to being where I want to be, but I have to crush those boundaries each and every day to get closer to where I want to be.

Somebody Stop Me... I'm SMOKIN!

Well... I got a new toy!
It is a Cricut. I had one before, but it was an older model and it did not work with the online program. So, I got a newer model and I absolutely LOVE it.

I am having so much fun making things. The biggest thing I am making right now is face masks. I am not selling them for profit. I have no interest to make money off my friends and family. I am just asking that they pay for the supplies I use and the postage if I have to ship them. It is so much fun creating these for people.

I just ordered some vinyl to be able to make car decals and I am so so so excited for those sheets. I have so much to learn with my new toy, but I think I am doing pretty great so far.

Check out a few masks I made for myself.

I made this mask to use for the Suicide Walk my friend and I do every year. It is to remember my cousins who I lost to suicide. It turned out so good! I love it.

And then a few for fun... The Saints one to support my team and the Jack Skellington one to wear when it gets closer to October. I mean... so fun!

Hurricane Laura

Because 2020 is not stressful enough, let's throw in a few hurricane's to make it a little more stressful.

Hurricane Laura hit Southwest Louisiana on August 27th as a category 4. She hit my home town of Sulphur, Louisiana head on. She came in with wind gusts of 137 miles per hour. She was the strongest hurricane to hit the gulf coast in over 164 years. It was also the 10th strongest US hurricane to make landfall.

There were 27th deaths in the state of LA and over 8.7 billion dollars in damages.

My brothers just got power on in the last week. One aunt got it back 2 weeks ago, and the other family members are still waiting. Even though the power is back on, there is no internet.

I have seen pictures and just can't believe all the damage that was done down there. If you want to see what a hurricane 4 was like, watch this video here. It shows what it was like to be in the hurricane throughout the whole night and then shows the damage that was around the city.

And not even 2 weeks later and Hurricane Sally is about to hit the Eastern side of Louisiana. Feels a lot like 2005 just in reverse. Can the gulf coast please just get a break after this one? We need to get all the roofs on the homes fixed up before a big storm comes through again...

Happy 8th Anniversary

I decided to take today and tomorrow off work. My husband and I are celebrating our 8 year anniversary tomorrow and I had some extra days to take off this year, so I wanted a few days off. We aren't doing anything too exciting because of COVID.

This man, God knew... was what my life needed.
With this man, I found my soulmate.
I found the place where my heart will forever lie.

I found the man that loves me unconditionally and supports every thing I do.
I found a man, who brought a bonus daughter into my life and with that came so much extra added laughter. My girls have such a great bond and I love hearing their laughter...

Every day I thank God for bringing this man into my life.
Happy 8th anniversary my love!
Thank you for all you have given me in our life together. I look forward to our future together.

Out there making memories...

I took a week off work this summer. We didn't have any plans really, I just needed some time off. My parents were suppose to come up this summer, but thanks to COVID that did not happen. Leaving me with extra vacation days...

The first day of my vacation I decided to get the girls up early and take a road trip. We left and headed to Ruby Beach. That was our first stop. We of course made a stop at Dutch Bro's for them to get a delicious beverage.

We made it to Ruby Beach. And boy was I super thankful that we decided to go to this beach. It was absolutely AMAZING. There was so much beauty there, it was breath taking. We stayed there for a few hours before we headed to Forks.

We finally got to Forks and went around looking at all the Twilight places. The girls seemed like they had a fun time. They even got them a Forks sweatshirt.

On the way home, we stopped at Crescent Lake. This was Isa's favorite place of the trip. It is so beautiful and the water is so awesome.

We got home a little before 6 pm. What a wonderful day we had. I let the girls play music the entire trip and they LOVED that. All and all, it was a great road trip with my girls!

2020 - First Day of School

The oldest started school September 3, 2020. A week past when she originally starts school. This year her school is doing virtual learning. She will be doing 3 classes each quarter and they will be doing their learning from the morning to about 12:30. And then the afternoon will be for her to do homework, or anything else she needs to do for school.

She is now in 10th grade.

The youngest started school on September 9, 2020. Since COVID started her dad and stepmom have been working from home. So, the kiddo has been going to their house every other week. It helps her with sitting at my work every day.

Well... her first day of school was on a week that she went to her dad's house. I have NEVER missed her first day of school, so I decided to take the day off and spend the day at her dad's house with her. I also watched her little sister as well, while the adults worked. It was a great day. She was so surprised and her face was priceless. It was a great day being with her and spending that first day with her.

She is now a 7th grader. Where is the time going..........................................

If Karma was coming back to you, would it help or hurt you?

Help I believe. I haven't really done anything bad to anyone to make Karma come back and hurt me.

I have tried to live my life the best I can and make sure that I treat everyone how I wish they would treat me. I try to be kind. I try to be loving. And hope that I get those returned to me.

Bravest Thing

What is the bravest thing you have ever done?

I think that the bravest thing I have done so far in my life is gotten a divorce and stayed in Washington State raising my kiddo as a single parent.

It took a lot of patience and determination to make sure I could make it all work and make sure my baby girl was taken care of.

10 Commandments for Work

What are your 10 commandments for your job?

In honor of my 20 years in the insurance industry, I figured I would share some of my wisdom. Here are 10 things that are important to me and that I follow each and every day.

  1. Always be courteous.
  2. No matter how upset the customer is, always listen to their concern. They are upset for a reason.
  3. Do your best every day.
  4. Give 100%.
  5. Make sure to check your work. You might be experienced and have been doing this for 20 years, but you still can make mistakes.
  6. Remember to smile. A smile can go a long way.
  7. Don't forget where you came from. Use your manners and always be respectful.
  8. Do your best to be kind. Kindness is something that should never be forgotten.
  9. Never let anyone walk all over you.
  10. Be happy. Life is too short to not be happy!

Terrifying Situation

What was the most terrifying situation you have ever been in?

The most terrifying situation I have ever been through is when my dad was running in the Boston Marathon. It was the year they had the terrorist attacks. My dad's tracker dude stopped running on the map online and I got a horrible feeling in my stomach.

And then my brother texted asking me if I heard from my parents and then told me to turn on the news. My heart dropped in my chest. And then all the texts and messages came through...

That was by far the worst hour of my life. Wondering where my dad was, wondering if he was okay, wondering if my mom was okay... So many questions going through my mind.

Favorite Dish

What is your favorite dish to cook for your friends?

I think my favorite is my white chicken chili crockpot recipe. I put it in the crockpot and it cooks for 8-10 hours and we are good. And it is so good. I just cook up some corn bread and then dinner is done!

Quick and Easy

Next Vacation

My next big vacation, I would love it to be in Louisiana. My parents and I usually rotate what years we travel. We went last year so they were suppose to come this year... however... COVID happened and that is not happening this year. My mom is considered high risk, so I completely get it.

We will probably not see them until 2021, but I would love to go see them.

Because that is not realistic this year... I would like to take a few day trips with the girls. Our first day trip will be to do the Twilight Tour in Forks, WA. We can do that, while social distancing. I made the list of our route already...

We will get up around 6 am and head out with food in tow. We will stop at the places below in order:
- Ruby Beach - I have never been here and it is so close to La Push so we will hit this up first in the morning to be able to get out and enjoy our time at a new place.
- Forks - we will hit up all the locations for the Twilight Tour.
- La Push - if this is open. If not, we will skip this time around. We plan to go down the road and rent a cabin with the girls.
- Sol Duc Falls - we will see about this as well. It is so beautiful, but we will play this one by how the girls are feeling...
- Lake Crescent
- Port Angeles
- Hit up anywhere else we can find to have fun...

We are watching the Twilight movies now to prepare for our girls trip and I can not wait. We are doing this in less than a week and we can't wait... Woo hoo!

Happy Birthday Mackenzie....

Today I decided to take the day off and hang out with my friend Amanda and her 2 year old Mackenzie. She turns 2 today. My youngest kiddo and I went to McDonald's for breakfast and headed over to hang out all day long.

What a fun day we had. We enjoyed time together. Relaxing and just having a day off is great!

What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen in nature?

Definitely my trip to La Push, Washington.

On this trip everything was just so breath taking. The drive was just so beautiful. You are driving through the Olympic National Park. And then you stop at little places like, Port Angeles that just has amazing vies. On the way there, we also stopped at Sol Duc Falls and we hiked through the park to get to the falls. It was so amazing.

Once we got to La Push, we stayed in a cabin on first beach. And if that wasn't incredible itself, we took time to hike through the forest to get to Second Beach. The hike wasn't so bad. Once we got there, we had to take the man made stairs all the way to the beach. Hiking those stairs on the way back was pretty rough. But it was WELL worth it. We also went to Rialto Beach while we were down there.

The whole trip was AMAZING. I want to take our girls to do this exact trip one day soon. I want them to be able to see the amazing beauty of nature. So breath taking!

5 years

Tomorrow marks 5 years that I have been a MOPS volunteer. I have been involved with MOPS for a total of 9 years. And let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE it. MOPS has been such a huge part of my life and I will probably never not be a part of it.

After I got divorced and I met Abe, he introduced me to a new church. I loved it, so we became members and I quickly found out about MOPS. I joined and it was such a great experience for me. I got to meet some new people and the kiddo went to child care while I spent 2 hours enjoying adult momma time. It was great. I joined the leadership team shortly after joining and the following year I became coordinator. After I was done coordinating, I became a MOPS ministry coach. After that I became a community coach. I coached my groups and a few other coaches. After that I became a Special Projects Volunteer. I basically do all the things for our Facebook group and I create our event registration pages and Facebook event pages. I help in any way I can. I love it. I also help moderate the MOPS Coordinators group. I usually will approve posts and I am in charge of approving ladies to enter the group. It keeps me busy, but I love it.

I can't believe that 5 years on the volunteer team has gone by so quickly! In honor of my 5 years, I am going to the link to donate to MOPS. If you feel led, consider donating to MOPS. Your donation could be distributed a number of different ways. You could choose to use your donation for general, which would be used where most needed to support groups and moms. You could choose to donate to the International side, which would support the expansion of MOPS outside the US. Or you could choose to donate to the scholarship side, which would make MOPS accessible for groups and moms who can't afford participation fees. What a wonderful gift your donation would make. If you feel led to donate, please click here.

If you are interested in joining MOPS, please comment below. It is a great resource for mom's with kids from birth to kindergarten. In our MOPS, every other week we either had craft or a speaker. It was such an amazing thing as a mom to experience. And I love my MOPS friends. I have made some wonderful friendships from my time with MOPS. I can help you find a group near you.

Morning or Night

Are you a morning or a night person? Why?

It is very rare these days if I can stay up past 11. I am constantly on the go and now that I work out most days, by 9 I am ready to get my things done to go to bed. I usually go to bed between 9:30 and 10:30.

I get up most days between 6 and 8. On the weekends I would love to sleep in more, but in our new house we have a skylight that lets the light in. We will get a shade for it at some point, but for now, I get up and start my day.

I am not a napper either, so that really sucks!

Who is your best friend from your home town?

I am the 2nd kid from the right in this picture and my best friend Heather is the 3rd kid from the right. We have been friends since we were 2. Man... this year makes 38 years of us being a part of each others lives. I can not be more thankful for this person. She has been through thick and thin with me... from age 2 to age 40. I can not imagine a life without her in it.

If you were given $10,000, what would you spend it on?

I think the first thing I would do is spend a lot of it on a new wardrobe for ALL of us. Myself, my husband and both the kids. We are all changing and we all need things, but money comes and goes and we just can't go get a lot of stuff for all of us all the time.

And then after that, I would probably spend whatever is left over and spend a little on a vacation for our little family and then the rest would go into savings.

Thursday, July 16, 2020

Things you wish you learned when you were in high school...

that would help you more in the future...

I think the biggest would be handing my finances. The knowledge of starting a savings for your retirement, making sure to start a normal savings for emergencies... using a check register...

Also, cooking. I never watched my momma cook. She is an excellent cook, but I was never interested in watching her cook, so I learned the hard way. On my own. Ha!

Color Street Fun

I have found something that I absolutely LOVE. I have always had short nails. I figured I would always have them since my past history with trying to grow my nails out was never a good one. My nails were always so thin they would break all the time.

Well, I found something that works for me and my nails are (for the first time in my life) growing and are growing strong. I no longer have brittle weak nails. I have strong thriving nails and I love it.

Almost 3 weeks ago my friend Shauna told me that she started selling Color Street Nail Strips. I have tried Jamberry nail stickers before and wasn't a huge fan. I figure since she was a friend starting out in her nail business, I would support her and order. I bought 3 sets of stickers and I got one free.

The following week the Patriotic nails came out and I got those as well. I bought 3 and got 1 free. This was before I even tried my first strip! I got the first ones I had bought and did my own nails. I did my first set while on a zoom call that lasted an hour. I spent the hour cleaning up my cuticles and applying my first set. No heat required. Since my nails were short, I was able to cut my strips in half. So, no only did I do my first manicure set with them, I have a 2nd set waiting for future use.

I loved them. My nails looked so good. No smudges, no chips, no peeling... it was amazing. I think my first nail chipped around day 7, but I broke a part of my nail off, so I think that is why it chipped. I changed the out on day 8. Not because they looked bad, but because I got my Patriotic ones and wanted Stars and Stripes for the 4th of July. And then 8 days later I wanted to try a new set, so I changed it up. It is so new, it's fun to have new nail color on. I will get to the point where I wait longer... But, for now... I am having a blast.

Because I love them so much, I have decided to have a nail party. It is all done on Facebook. If you are my friend on FB, let me know and I can add you to the group. If not and would like to check these awesome strips out, click here. My party is going from July 17 through July 25th. They even have buy 3 get 1 free. Except for the french manicure. That is buy 1, get 1 free.

I am so amazed by how well they work. One day I will sign up to sell them and be able to benefit from that, but for now... I will use my friend.

Let me know if you have any questions...

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to get to my goal weight.

I have been working very hard at this over the past year and a half and I will continue to work on this until I reach my goal weight. I just can not wait to be at my goal weight and my body feel so much better.

What is the oldest thing you own?

The oldest thing that I own is my baby book and school book my momma kept for me. I love going through those and looking back on the memories of when I was a baby and in school.

If you could eliminate anything from your daily routine...

What would it be?

I think the one thing I would eliminate if I could, would be to get rid of doing clothes. It isn't necessarily the washing and drying of clothes, but it is the folding and putting away that gets me...

Those are my favorite flowers. I love them because they are so different and unique.

What would make your teenage self proud of you now???

Oh this is a good question.

I think my answer would be...
The fact that I am way more confident with myself now than when I was a teenager. I have learned the hard way that it doesn't really matter what people think of you... YOU have to love yourself first and then have the confidence to go through each day knowing, no matter what anyone says... you are awesome and amazing.

How do you deal with stress?

This is a really good question. Especially now, during this time where we never have been before and we are so UNSURE of the UNKNOWN.

We don't know when things will return to normal. We don't know how summer will look or even how the school year in the fall will look.

I think right now, I am dealing with stress, by making sure I am staying connected to all my people by text, phone calls, zoom calls, Facebook calls... all the ways I can to just keep in touch. I lean on my husband when needed. It is hard because I am a very put together person and I don't stress too often. I mean, finances sometimes, but life not really. I have just been very anxious about life lately and I know I am not the only one out there and I think that puts me at ease a little. Everyone is going through this and everyone is dealing with it in their own ways.

Hang in there people. It will get better... we just have to continue to have faith and do what is needed for our families. Everyone's need will be different. I definitely am not upset with people who choose to do things differently than my family. Let's remember to be kind. Love each other and stay faithful!

Monday, June 1, 2020

How do you want to be remembered?

Well... I think the only thing I would like to be remembered for is how much I cared about those that meant the most to me. I loved with all my heart and I did whatever I could for those that needed help. I think that is the most important thing in my life, so that is what I want to be remembered for...

How to be a real and true friend?

I have learned over the years that each and every friend you have, has a family of their own. They have a life of their own and as you get older, your friendship changes. Being a real and true friend is staying in touch. Checking in when it has been a few days. Making sure they are doing okay. And then enjoying dinner together when we can make the time together. Celebrating each and every family member when it's their birthday... enjoying holiday's together when we have no other plans and can make it work.

A real true friend never gives up on their friend. They are honest and tell you things you don't always want to hear. They love unconditionally and they are always there. They will drop anything to help you if needed.

I have definitely found some of the best friends a girl could ever ask for. God has definitely played a part in bringing these people into my life when I needed them. And over the years they have proven how true and real they can be. I hope that I am proving that to them each and every day.

Describe your dream house...

You know what... I always grew up thinking about what I wanted in my dream house. But, you know... the older I get, I have learned to realize that it doesn't matter what the house looks like inside and out. What is important is the family that is inside the house.

We moved into our HOME April 4th. It definitely isn't my dream house, but you know what... it's my husband's dream. He has always wanted this house.

We have been living here for going on 2 months next week and it is perfect for us. I might not like some things, but those things we can update down the road to what we like

We are slowly doing things here and there to get it updated to what we want. It will take time, but I love living here with my family. I love the peace I now have in our home. I love how much safer I feel living here. It's great and I feel extremely blessed.

Are you hosting any upcoming events?

I am not the host of the 6 events, but together with my volunteer team, we are putting on 6 different Gathering training events for our MOPS leaders and moms.

As the Volunteer for our area, we find the churches who will host our event and then we get there the day of the event and we put the event on. Together we have breakouts and are in charge of each breakout and then we help set up and break down the location.

Our goal is to make sure we create a great training for each and every one of our ladies that comes. We have 11 team members and between us we usually go to 2 events each. I will be doing our event in Enumclaw and Gig Harbor with 2-3 of our other coaches. I am so excited to welcome these ladies to our Gathering and I am praying that they get so much out of each and every one of our training.

My job as support is to create each and every event registration and then post it live to our Facebook group. Then I print out the registration sheets and send them to each lady who will print them for each event. And then I log each and every one of the ladies who attends into our MOPS system.

Our year has been a bit different with the Coronavirus. We have done all our events through a Zoom room and it has been different, but great to see all the smiling faces!

Happy Mother's Day

Being a mother is the best thing that has EVER happened to me. Here are a few things about me being a mom...

What's the most difficult part about being a mother?
People tell you all about being a mom. They tell you about how great it is and how tiring it is, but they don't tell you the in between. They don't tell you that some days you will be so frustrated as a mom, that you think you are failing. They don't tell you that it is hard and emotionally draining. But, despite all those it has been one of the best things in my life.
What surprised you most about being a mom?
How quickly someone's moods can change. Like night and day. It is so crazy. And every stage it is a different kind of change.
What (if anything) do you love most about the pre-teen age?
I love that my little mini me and I are so much alike. She loves a lot of the same things I love. We like to do some of the same things. It makes me so happy to be her momma.
What did you love about the elementary school years?
I loved her trying to find herself. I loved the good and bad days. They were each teachable moments for her and myself... And you know what... WE MADE IT THROUGH!
What did you love about the toddler stage?
I loved the cute and funny comments she would make. Some were not okay, but for the most part they all were great!
What did you love about the infant stage?
I loved the cuddling stage. It made me feel loved and needed. I was in charge of a tiny human and watching her learn how to grow each and every day was a special time for me.
Where did you go for information and advice about raising kids?
From my mom, my friends and books.
What did you hate about being pregnant?
The only thing I can remember was the last trimester. I had a bad cold so different things would make me throw up. Other than that, I did not have morning sickness.
What did you love about being pregnant?
Growing a tiny human inside me. What a wonderful, interesting thing a woman can do.
When did you know you wanted to be a mom?
When I was a little girl.
Why do you love being a mom?
Because she is the most important thing in my life. I am raising a young lady who will need me for the rest of her life. I will protect her and help her until the day I die and I hope that when I do die, she will know how special and loved she was.

What do you believe makes a successful life?

I am a firm believer that the success of your life is definitely not counted by the job you have. To be successful, you live your life the best you can. You give your heart and soul to those who are in your life. You volunteer. You spend your days making people laugh. You become the best version of YOU and you share your knowledge with anyone who will listen. Be kind and loving. Never forget who you truly are. Never forget where you come from. Never forget that life is so so hard. But you can make it the best you can...

Happy Birthday Momma

Describe your mom?
My momma. She was a loving momma. She always had a warm meal ready for us. My favorite is her roast, rice and gravy and her spaghetti. She was a stay at home mom and she was always home for us. She has the best hugs and no matter what comes my way, I know that I can call her and just feel like it is all going to be okay.

What do you love most about your mom?
Her beauty.

What is your mom's favorite thing to do?
I believe her favorite things is to watch Law and Order or Criminal Minds.

What's your favorite thing to do with your mom and why?
Just sit and enjoy our time together. We don't get that time too much, so when we are together we run the roads when needed, but then we hang out together and that is the most special time!

Why do you love your mom?
Because she is always there for me no matter what. She always worries about me and my family and she is the best thing. I want my daughter to feel how loved I feel as a daughter.

Day 38

Well... we are still taking it day by day here.

Schooling in person has been cancelled through the rest of this year. Our kids get out at the end of June, so that's so far away... Since, they have cancelled in person schooling, they had to change their schooling format. Before this week, they were just reviewing to keep the kids minds fresh. Now, they have to teach them the things they need to know before the end of the year. This week is the first week for that different type of learning and so far the kiddo says it is going good. She is such a hard little worker. So, we shall see how the rest of this year goes.

Our new normal for now is the kiddo goes to her dad every other week so she doesn't have to be sitting at my work every single day. It helps her out to not be so bored after school work is done, but MAN I miss that kid so much when she is gone. It is so hard with her being away. I am happy for her and them because they get this extra time with her. I just miss her like crazy. She is my little mini me... attitude and all. She might drive me crazy sometimes, but she is my biggest supporter and she loves me with her whole heart!

I don't have anything else to share other than some cool things to check out. Hope you enjoy them...

Nicholas Sparks - The Return - He has a new book coming out September 29, 2020. I am a huge fan of his work. I will definitely get this book when it comes out and will be done reading it that day, or the day after. Check out the synopsis for the new book, here.

If you have any interest in watching some Disney rides, you can go to this website and check out a few of them. I watched a few of them and they are pretty neat.

If anyone out there has seen these, please let me know. They are Tajin Chicken Nuggets. I am a lover of Tajin and it might be weird, but I put this on my pizza and it is addicting. My husband doesn't like it on his pizza, but I sure do. I can't wait to try these.

I love this man. He shares his poem about smiling. Check it out here.

I like this song by Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Check it out here

This was pretty hilarious. Never ever Have I played by Ellen, Gwyneth Paltrow, Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany. Check it out here.

My new favorite song is "I Dare You" by Kelly Clarkson. The English version is pretty great, but I just found this Global mix and it is pretty great as well. Check it out here.

If you are a wine drinker, check this site out. Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis launched Quaratine Wine for a good cause. All proceeds, yep 100%, goes to charities of their choice. The charities that they have chose are on the website where you can purchase the wine. Check it out here

John Krasinski hosted his newest episode of Some Good News. Check it out here. It includes Prom 2020.

I mean this is too good not to share. It was the day that my kiddo found out there her dad and step mom were going to have a baby. Check it out here.

Check out my aunt who was on America's Funniest Home Videos. Here clip is the last one in this video. Hilarious... check it out here

That is all I have for today. Hope you are all staying healthy and safe out there.

Day 32

The days are flying by, or so they seem to... The kiddo is back there working her little heart out. Some days her work is easy and she flies through it and some days she has hard days. But she is doing her best and that is all that I can ask for. This is such a hard time for all the kiddos.

We have moved into our house and are finally unpacked. We have 1 room left to unpack boxes, but it is mostly my husband's stuff, so we will get to that eventually. We have time before we can show people our house, so he has time to figure out where he wants everything to go.

Here are a few resources for y'all. Things I think you could use for the little kiddos or things that are interesting to watch. Enjoy!

Dolly Parton singing Sweet Music Man by Kenny Rogers. Check it out here.

Disney launched a website full of fun and engaging Disney content, stories and resources all for free. Check out the site here.

Harry Potter fans, you can take classes here. I have not checked it out, but it looks interesting.

One of my favorite remakes of Hallelujah. This is the remake for Easter. I love it and the Christmas one as well. Here is the Easter version.

Why not watch Robin Williams helping Martha Stewart cook. I laughed a lot. He was so hilarious. Watch it here.

Watch Kevin Hart talk about his fear of all animals. This guy is a trip. Watch it here.

Dolly Parton is so funny. She has a poem for us. Check it out here.

That is all I have for you today. Stay safe y'all and do something that makes you smile today.

Day 25

Well... this will be my last post for at least 5 days. I am off tomorrow through Monday. I can't wait to have these next 5 days at home. There is so much for me to do, but I am going to enjoy each day. I will rest on Sunday, which is my birthday (40th) and Easter. And hopefully Monday, the kiddo and I can enjoy a day with just hanging out and bonding. We shall see how much we can get done in the next 3 days.

Until then, here are some things I wanted to share... Enjoy!

If you are interested in making your own mask that is no-sewing, check out how, here.

Take a virtual tour of the tulip fields in Washington. A really beautiful place to visit at least once in your life... Check the tour out here.

I really do love Alicia Keys. She really can create any song and sing it amazingly. Check out her spin on Flo Rida's My House here

Check these out. Hopefully you are staying safe. Take care and will write more next week when I have more time!

Day 24

Well, they called it yesterday. School will not resume the remainder of this year. The kids will continue to do online learning to end out the school year. My kiddo is so sad. She really misses her friends and her teachers.

She is at her dad's this week for Spring Break. So, there is nothing really to share on the schooling side for now.

Last night we went to the plex (our old duplex) to get our big flat screen TV that we have in our living room. With that still in the plex, I was so nervous with us not being there. We were able to load up my car with as much stuff around it so it was safe on the ride to our new home. We unloaded our car and then grabbed dinner and a few things at Walgreen's that we needed. I can't find my band aides and we have cut ourselves during the move. We will find it soon. The husband put up our bedroom TV and got all that connected. I unpacked 5 reusable grocery bags filled with stuff. I organized my shoes that we brought over and then washed some dishes by hand. Yep... old school. The new house does not have a dishwasher. Once day we will add one, but until then... it is old school hand washing. We were done after that. I even fell asleep last night WITHOUT turning on our noise machine. That NEVER happens. This place is so quiet and I feel so much safer in this home than the last. I haven't slept this good in a very long time.

Today's agenda is to go grab our TV stand shelves because they are glass. I will load up what I can and head home to unload boxes. Today is a chill day before the rest of this week's work.

Tomorrow, Abe and I will head to the plex and pack as much as we can into our cars. We are so close to having everything out of the unit. We will move all that still needs to go to our new home, to the garage. Once our cars are packed and the house is empty of our stuff, we will head home to unpack and do what needs to be done there.

Thursday I am off work. I am going to go to the plex and patch the nail holes in the walls, clean the unit, paint the 5 colored walls we have and then pack my car with what still needs to go to our house. By the end of this day, hopefully I will be done painting and cleaning. That way on Saturday we can make runs all day until the garage is finally empty and we can turn in our keys.

Busy busy next few days, but so ready to be done with the plex so we can focus on the new home and getting all the boxes unpacked and things to be where they need to go so we can enjoy it more... Right now, we are enjoying it being ours, we are just really tired! Moving/Packing/Unpacking without help is so exhausting.

But, hey... everyday is a blessing and we are extremely thankful!

Stay safe out there peeps.

Day 23

It was such a long weekend... but, we got so much done and that is what I am thankful for. Do you know what is HORRIBLE? Moving, during a pandemic and a Stay at Home order.

Thursday, we went to the house after we got our keys. We looked around and talked about the different things that we wanted to do, etc.

Friday, I got off work at 12:30 and we headed to the house around 2 and cleaned everything. The girls washed their walls, they mopped their floors, I mopped the floors, vacuumed out all the cabinets and we were ready to move in.

Saturday, we had one awesome friend Geoff come and help Abe with the heavy stuff. We had most of our boxes already in my husband's big work truck he borrowed from work. We made one load with our friend. He helped unload all the heavy stuff and then he had to go home, so we finished the rest of the truck. We made a 2nd load with our old neighbor Moses and then we went back to the house once more for a few things. And then we were done for the night. We finally went to sleep around 11:30 pm. We started our day at 6:30 and we were exhausted!

Sunday, we spent our day unpacking, getting our internet up and running, and then cleaning as we went. It was a long day. We did not do a run from the duplex. Husband had to get a few things there, so he went, but I stayed home. Both kids were gone and it was just the husband and I.

We will spend the next week unpacking and getting things done that we need to do around the house. Small projects mixed with the huge unpacking we have to do. The quarantine stay at home order is now pushed to May 4 so we have a month left before we can have people over (unless they extend that time again...) So, we are going to unpack as we can, but rest when we need to.

And then we have to get the duplex cleaned and ready to turn in our keys. We have to be out of there by the 19th, but I am hoping to finish with that by this coming Saturday. We shall see how my body feels.

My husband and I are just so tired and exhausted, but we have a house of our own and we could not be more thankful!

Stay safe out there!

Day 19

Today, I don't have any resources to share.
All I have today is this...

We bought a house. So, that being said... the last week has been pretty hectic with packing and getting ready for our move tomorrow. I didn't think we would get into the house until the end of the month, so this was quite a rush... but I managed to get about 95% of the house packed and the rest we will do on Sunday when we have a few of the boxes unpacked. I do not want to buy anymore boxes haha.

The kiddo is at home with her older sister and they have been doing their school work and then the rest of the day spent hanging out together and doing the few things I give them each day. Yesterday, their job was to unload the dishwasher, wash whatever clothes they wanted before we moved, and pack up the pantry stuff. Today's job's are to empty the dishwasher, shower because once I get home we will be taking all bathroom stuff to the house and won't be able to shower again until tomorrow night and pack the rest of Abe's side of the bed. It's really easy stuff...

I am getting off around 1 and then we will go to the house and clean the floors, the walls, the tub and then clean the counters so we are all ready to move in.

The girls have their own room and they are big. My husband will have his man cave room. We have our own laundry room... A storage shed in the back... a nice back yard, fenced.
It is perfect for us. We LOVE it and are so ready to be moved in and settled making our home ours...

Here is our picture we took yesterday.
Our first picture at our new home...

Day 18

Today my kiddo is at home with her older sister. They have a list of things they need to do today, so they are at home busy. They have their school work and then a few chores that I have written down for them. Lots to do at our house right now...

I don't have really many resources for today.
The only thing I will remind people of is the Power of Positive Summit that is going on RIGHT now. It started today. You can go to the site here to sign up. They will email you a few speakers each day and last year it was so good. I was so thankful I signed up and will do it each and every year. This year especially everyone could use a little POSITIVITY... So, go sign up and join me!

Hope you are all doing well and staying healthy! Until tomorrow... enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday Dad

This man right here, has been my whole entire world since the day I was born. I have always been a daddy's girl and just because I am almost 40, that does not mean that has changed at all. This man has worked his whole entire life to make sure our family was taken care of and I am so proud of my dad!

He had a birthday yesterday and I hope it was the best birthday ever! I love you dad and I miss you like crazy! Thanks for all the wonderful memories you have given me in my lifetime and the many more that will happen in the years to come!

My favorite memory of my dad is when he would brush my hair each night 100 strokes a night. It was one of my favorite memories. Here is a picture of my dad doing the same to my daughter when we were home for Christmas.

You are the best dad a girl could ever hope to have!

Day 17

17 days seems like not so many days... until you are quarantined and can't leave your house except to go to work (us essential workers) or to go get some groceries or to go outside for a bit.

The kid really does work hard. She spends all day checking her Google Classroom and when the teachers post work she gets busy doing it. She watches shows on her phone and brought some things to keep her busy as well. She is doing so well and I am extremely proud of her.

A few resources...

10 YouTube channels to keep your kids moving at home... click here.

NASA is providing activities to bring the universe into your home. I can't wait to check this out for myself. Check it out here.

Any Harry Potter Fans out there? Here they are introducing Harry Potter at Home. I signed up and played for a little bit. I was placed in Gryffindor, my wand is a cypress wood one with a unicorn hair core, 10 3/4" and slightly yielding flexibility, and my patronus is a siberian cat. It was pretty neat. There is so much to explore as well. With puzzle games, to reading. So neat. If you want to check it out, click here.

My only reason I go to the fair (when I go, I really can't stand going) is to get the funnel cake that they have there. They are so good. I found a recipe for Funnel Cake Bites. And boy, I can't wait to try these. They look delicious! Here is the recipe.

Wide open school is giving family some great school resources for keeping your kids engaged during this time frame. When you go to their website, click We're a family and you will get right in. I checked it out and they have so much. Check it out here

A great song called "You Will Be Found."

That is all I have for today. Stay healthy everyone!
