First Thanksgiving...

This will be the first Thanksgiving that will be had without my PawPaw being here. He passed away in February and boy will he be missed. 

I am so excited for my trip to Louisiana for Christmas, but this is something I am not excited about. Going home for a visit without being able to go visit with him. Thinking about it brings me to tears. But, I am so thankful I will get to have some time with my family and be able to get through it together!

Praying for all the families out there who has lost loved ones and have to go through the holiday's without them. (Definitely praying for our oldest... she lost her grandfather on her mom's side on the 12th of November and this will be such a hard holiday for them as well.)

15 things..

15 things no one knows about you:

  1. I have not only 1 scar from the birth of my daughter, but I have 2 scars. I have one where the normal c-section scar is, but I also have one on my back where they put the epidural in. Apparently I had a really bad reaction to the tape they used and I have a scar that is about 2 inches long. It is really weird. 
  2. I can say Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in Latin. 
  3. I have worked at my job for the past 19 years... next September will be 20 years. Job hunting gives me major anxiety. Even the possibility of change gives me major anxiety. I am thankful I found a job when I was 20 that allowed me to learn and grow. 
  4. Creme Brulee is my favorite dessert. 
  5. My daughter came 3 weeks early weighing 8 lbs and 15 oz. 
  6. I can whistle quite well. 
  7. I can also twirl my tongue over. 
  8. Going to the dentist even for a cleaning, gives me major anxiety. I am so thankful I just found a new place that I love. It is helping, but I get sick to my stomach every time I make an appointment and a few days before my appointment. 
  9. I no longer have my gallbladder. 
  10. I wear men's Nike's instead of women's. The men's are naturally more wider than women's and fit me better. 
  11. One of my favorite little human's is a little girl named Justice. She belongs to my ex-husband and his wife. 
  12. I am an organizational freak. I have to have things organized the way I want them or it really stresses me out. 
  13. I can not stand cabinet doors being open. One of my biggest Pet Peeves. 
  14. I can read piano music and play a song as long as there are letters on the keys and it is not too difficult. My first love... never continued, but still play. My favorite is Christmas music. 
  15. I have 4 tattoos. I am content with what I have. My daughter would like to get a matching one with me down the road, but we shall see if she still wants to when she is older. If she does, I will definitely get a fifth tattoo for her.

The best dessert EVER....

You know, I use to be a cheesecake girl. All kinds of cheesecakes, but my favorite was always vanilla bean from the Cheesecake Factory. 

HOWEVER... that was then. 
Now, my favorite dessert of all time is Creme Brulee... I first had it in Long Beach, WA when we went for Abe's birthday weekend many years back. And after that, my goal was to find a place that had it and try it. I haven't found one that is just as good to date, but some have come really close. 

Costco has these desserts in a box of 6. They are not bad at all. We just had them this past weekend for my friend's birthday dinner and they are just delightful. One day I will venture out and make my own, but I have not tried that yet. 

The Feast Buffet in Renton also has them... And I love going because HELLO... I pay for all you can eat and can have my fill on shrimp and lobster claws and creme brulee... it is a win for me. It's not good for me, but I enjoy it. Last time we went, I might have eaten 4 small things of Creme Brulee... and it was AMAZING!

This past year

What are some of the top things you have learned over the past year?

I think the top thing would be that I can definitely do anything I set my mind to. I have been slow on the weight loss this year... slow and steady wins the race right? I have had to train my mind to remember my end goal every single time I have a set back. I have learned that I am not young anymore and my body takes time to heal, so I have to take it slower than when I was younger. It's hard because I don't want to. I want to reach my weight loss goal and not have to go slow, but going slow will help the skin stretch back the way it should.

I got this, it is just taking longer than I had hoped.

How do you show yourself love?

What a hard and complicated question?

You might be thinking, did she really just say complicated?

The answer to that is yes. I have always been a giver. Of all things. I give my love, time, help to anyone and everyone that needs it. I like helping other people out so much and it is a part of who I am. In doing so, I often show myself love/care last. It is something that I have always done and something I will do forever. I come last. Every single day. 

However, over the past 11 months of fasting and working on myself, I have realized that I do need to put myself first from time to time. I need to love myself no matter how much I weigh and how much I struggle. I am beautiful and I am loved by others and I need to focus on loving myself the way others love me. 

It is such a hard thing, but I am working on that every single day... 

Some ways I show myself love is... 
Reminding myself that I am beautiful. 
Taking time to focus on me and becoming a better human. We can always improve in that area. 
And reminding myself that no matter what I am wonderful...

For the next 30 days my goals are:

- Continue on my weight loss journey...
- Save as much money as we can...
- Buy as many gifts as we can for Christmas so it helps with the end of next month.

A day in the life of YOU....

Some days I feel like I have nothing going on, but when I sit and think about what I have done throughout the day I get exhausted. Life didn't use to be so busy, or at least I don't think it did... again if I think back, it really has always been busy. 

I use to sleep in until the very last minute before I would get up and get ready and brush my teeth and hair and get out the door. Over the last few weeks, I have decided to start waking up earlier. I started with getting up 15 minutes earlier and then I started with 30 minutes... I now get up at 6 every morning and I have to be out of the door by 7:20. I get up and then lay in bed waking up. I will get up sometime after 6 and then will make my bed and do anything that needs to be done, like load the dishwasher, vacuum the floors, etc. I try to get a few things done each day to make sure that the evenings are a little easier on me. 

I leave the house at 7:20 each morning. I watch my kiddo walk to school and then I head to work. I only live 3.6 miles from work, so the drive is very short. I like it that way though. I commuted to work every day for many many years. I can't do that anymore. My anxiety can't handle it every single day.

I get to work and begin working at 8. Before starting to work, I will check my emails, social media, etc. Work goes from 8-4. At 1:50 I leave to pick up the kiddo and before she gets into the car, I usually do some exercising before we head back to my work to finish out the day. 

After work, I get home and will walk a mile on the treadmill. If I have done any part of the mile before now, I will just finish up what needs to be done for my mile and then might incorporate some other exercises to finish up my workout. After working out, I will usually start making dinner. I fast daily, so by 5 I am ready to eat. Some days, we eat around 6. Just depends on what I am making and what we have going on.

I will clean up after dinner and will usually take a shower/bath and then relax the rest of the night. Towards the end of my evening awake, I try to do 20-30 minutes of reading and read my devotional before I head to bed at 8:30 or 9. I know I know... so early. But I make sure I get over 5,000 steps in a day and I am always moving during the day. By 8 my body is so tired and ready to rest up for the next day's work!
