What Life Events Shaped Me?

I have never felt confident in my own body.
I have never really looked at myself in a mirror and truly just loved what I saw.
I am definitely working on this part of myself so the future me can just love me!

I think the 4 events that shaped me into the woman I am today are:
- My cousin Marla Faye's suicide in 1993.
- My cousin Trena's suicide in 1999.
- Being raped...
- Getting divorced

Man, the suicides happened within 6 years of each other and boy the emotions you go through when someone you love dies from suicide is insane. You never truly get over that. You just know it happened and you do your best to move on with your life without them in it. After Marla killed herself, I never in my life thought we would go through it a second time. But we did... and we still cry and think of them every single day!

Being raped happened. It was something I could never take back in my life, even though I wish I could. It was awful and one of the worst things that has ever happened to me. And it took years and years to finally get to a place where I could sleep without waking up scared. It took years and years to finally accept it happened and was able to finally move on without it holding me back anymore. Without it causing me anymore hurt or pain. I grew stronger each and every day and promised myself it would NEVER happen again.

The divorce was hard. It was raw and so real.  I went through every single emotion you can think of during my divorce. There were so many tears and so many nights where I wasn't sure where my life was going. All I knew is that I had a baby girl who was depending on me and I was not going to let her down. The divorce was the best thing that ever happened to me. People think I am being mean to my ex when I say that, but I am not. We were definitely better friends, than being married. We are still friends and we are raising our daughter the best we can. I absolutely adore his wife and their kiddo baby J.

Life happens for a reason. Some of those reasons I do not understand and might never understand, but all of these 4 events in my life shaped me into the woman I am today.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Today is our 7 year wedding anniversary. At the end of December it will be 9 years we have been together. I love this man more he will ever know. And I look extremely excited to spend the rest of my life with him.

I found someone who makes me laugh every single day.
I found someone who makes me feel beautiful, even on my bad days.
I found someone who loves me more than words can express.
I found a man who understands my moods.
I found a man who accepts all part so of me.
I found a man who walks with me through every part of my life.

I can't imagine my life without him in it.

My Top Distractions

Here are my top distractions and how I deal with them:

The first distraction is definitely my cell phone. Playing my game, looking on Facebook, Instagram, etc. It is definitely my biggest distraction. I deal with the distraction, but putting the phone down when I am around company. I do use it as a way to cope with the stresses of my day. But, I do try to put it down more.

The second distraction is the TV. I like to watch my shows/movies... it also helps relieve the stresses from the day. I usually do stop watching it around 8 or so. I try to read/write/get ready for the next day before I relax in bed.

Those are the ones that take up most of my time. I have learned to stop doing them to do the things that I need to get done. Like working out, cooking dinner, etc. I do enjoy the distractions, but sometimes you need to walk away so you can get the things done that you need to do on the day to day basis.

Journaling... soothes the soul!

I met my husband many many years ago and a little while after I stopped journaling like I used to. I have continued to write in my kiddo's journal of her life as she grows up, but I just stopped writing in my personal journal.

Lately, I have had a little bit of anxiety. I have no idea why, but it just creeps in from time to time. I have decided to start writing in my journal again, in hopes that it will help with the little bit of anxiety that I have been having.

I cleaned the corner of my bedroom about a month ago. It is the corner right by my side of the bed and I had a big book shelf and 2 plastic drawers. I got rid of the book shelf and put the plastic drawers in my closet after organizing that. The area is now cleaned and just bare. I have always wanted a reading nook area for me to be able to read and write in my journal. I always dreamed of when I had a house, what that area would look like.

I have decided that why wait until I get a house to get that area put together. So, I ordered myself a chair for that area. It will be here next week sometime. I am so excited. Not only is it a chair that has an ottoman, it also has 7 massage features as well. WOO HOO!

I have a new night stand where I can keep my books and notebooks to write in, so it makes it all nice for that area.

Here is to creating your best life now instead of waiting...

Lions are Fierce...

I am more of a fan of tigers myself, but when I saw this Painting with a Twist event coming up I totally wanted to do it. I signed my best friend and I up, and we finally painted our lions yesterday.

I am absolutely in love with it. Yes, if you look close it is not perfect by all means... but it is my lion and I love how he looks!

If you have the opportunity to go to a Painting event with a friend or your significant other for date night, DO IT... you will not be disappointed.

Here are a few pictures from our time painting...
The beginning...
 The middle...
 Our finished product...
I love him!

Middle School begins...

Well... my kiddo began her first day of Middle School yesterday.
Here is her first day picture.
And our annual first day picture with the 2 of us.
This is the sign I made for her.
She had a great day.
She likes all of her teachers.
She found all her classes okay and her only complaint was that her FEET hurt from all the walking she had to do from class to class.

Throughout the evening, she said she was excited about her 2nd day of school. I LOVE hearing that.

Here is to the kiddo growing into a beautiful young lady.
Here is to another year of school that has begun and I pray that she has an EXCELLENT 6th grade year.

Shaped Me

There are multiple things in my life that has shaped me into the person I am today. I think the first series of events that happened that shaped me into who I am today is the suicide of my cousins. It was such a hard time in my life, but moving away and finding my life outside of my small home town of Louisiana was what I needed for me.

My divorce also was another event that shaped me. I was able to raise my kiddo with being a single mother and it was the hardest time in my life, but I was able to get through it with the help of my best friends.

During all those events, I grew stronger and became the woman I am today. I learned about myself and realized what I wanted in life and learned what I needed to make my life better.

I am finally in a place in my life where I am extremely happy. Everything in my life is great and I am continually working on myself to get me where I need to be on the inside as well...

What shaped you?

19 years down...

Yesterday, marked my 19 year anniversary working for my boss.
I absolutely love my job.
I love our customers.
I love being able to help them on a day to day basis.

In 1999, I moved here from Louisiana. I worked for a friend at his business to get things organized and help out for a bit. I basically worked myself out of the job. In 2000, I got a job at Farmers Insurance at the district office. I say I worked myself out of the job there as well, but I honestly believe that the woman who was in a higher up position didn't care for me. So, they moved me to an agent's office for me to work there. And I am so thankful they did!

September 1, 2000 I started working for Myron, his ex-wife and her parents. I really enjoyed it and here we are... 19 years down and it is just Myron and I. Some days are great, some days are hectic, but every day I really just enjoy my job here.

Here is to many more years!!!
